News | 03/13/2020 Handover at Conexpo: From Las Vegas to Los Angeles

It is shown for the very first time at a trade fair: the HS 8200. The new duty cycle crawler crane stands for its all-rounder qualities and combines safety, performance and economy. At the first day of this years Conexpo Liebherr handed over the machine to customer Dragados USA, Inc. Immediately after the fair, the HS 8200 will start its journey to its first jobsite.

Dragados USA, Inc. is a division of Dragados Spain and is presently working on some of the largest infrastructure projects in the United States, such as the Southern Ohio Veterans Memorial Highway. At Conexpo 2020 the management of Dragados USA took over the key for the new HS 8200. Gerhard Frainer, Managing Director of Liebherr-Werk Nenzing GmbH, is delighted that the premiere of the machine in Las Vegas was totally successful.

Versatility is the key

The HS 8200 will go into operation in Los Angeles for shaft working service immediately after Conexpo. First it is going to dig the shaft, then secondly install the tunnel boring machine. Afterwards it will also work as a service crane on site and will show its qualities as a multipurpose machine. When digging the shaft, the new 35 S winches can be used with the full 77,162 lbs (35 t) line pull in the fourth layer. Spooling capacity of the winches is 300 m (984 ft). The new HS 8200 will operate at the jobsite in California the next seven years.

The HS 8200 is the new Liebherr duty cycle crawler crane in the 200-tonne (440,925 lbs) category. The design is based on its predecessor, the proven HS 895 HD, but boasts an even better performance capacity. Thanks to the new drive system, the turnover is increased by 15%. Load capacities are also increased by up to 15%.

The new duty cycle crawler crane is the optimum machine for extraction work and convinces not only using a dragline bucket but also a grab. Like all products in this series, the HS 8200 stands for all-rounder qualities. For deep foundation purposes the machine can be applied for dynamic soil compaction, as well as fitted with a casing oscillator or fixed leader. Thanks to various counterweight options the duty cycle crawler crane also convinces in lifting operation.
