It’s been quite a year for all of us. However, despite the pandemic, the team of Liebherr Components has mastered the challenges and proudly looks back at a fruitful 2020. Electrical drive technology
Components of the power and control electronics include frequency converter systems, power modules, energy storage, DC/DC controllers, switchgear, as well as system solutions for drive and control technology. Electric motors and generators complement our service range. These are used in mobile, semi-mobile and stationary applications. All components are developed to withstand the toughest environmental conditions be it dust, vibrations or extreme temperature fluctuations.
Combustion engines
For decades Liebherr has been developing and manufacturing robust combustion engines for diverse applications. As a result of this experience we understand the application-specific needs of our customers and are able to address these needs.
In-house hydraulic power
Self-developed hydraulic power units support our internal processes. For example, they allow lifecycle testings or make themselves useful in our Customer Service department. Also our Liebherr service locations rely on these diligent components.

reThink & reFuel: fuels and injection systems of the future
Alternative injection concepts have played a key role in the activities of the business unit fuel injection equipment in 2020.
Liebherr is focusing on hydrogen for internal combustion engines as an alternative fuel. Our design engineers are currently working on the development of direct hydrogen injection solutions for internal combustion engines.
As part of the C³-Mobility research project, Liebherr applies its injection technology to find new paths to CO2-free mobility with synthetic fuels.
Future-proof connectivity
In 2020, we witnessed again how important connections are. Our IoT gateways are the key to connectivity. No matter what your cloud looks like, our IoT gateways can connect to it and ensure smooth data traffic – also if you rely on common cloud solutions like Azure and Cumulocity.
Expanded Reman service for hydraulic cylinders
In 2020, we have expanded and improved our Reman services for hydraulic cylinders. In this way we are able to provide the best possible machine availability on construction sites and goods handling areas. Among the innovations are 24h overhaul services, as well as same –day-shippings of stored exchange cylinders.
600 within less than a year
In 2020, Liebherr has manufactured 600 main bearings and delivered them within less than a year. The bearings find their use in on- and offshore applications in both Europe and Asia. Within 2021, we will count over 1,000 sold pieces. Our latest addition to the portfolio are seamless induction-hardening process for main bearings.

New heights with drive unit

Hydraulic pumps to ensure smooth running
The perfect fit thanks to many nominal sizes. It’s been a turbulent year for many, which makes us even more excited about the series launch of the articulated dump truck TA 230 in October 2020. It is equipped with all available nominal sizes of our reliable medium pressure pump LH30VO. In the machine, the axial piston pumps in sizes 28 cm3, 45 cm3 and 85 cm3 power the equipment, cooling systems and the machine’s steering.
