Press releases | 01/31/2018 TOPKRAN orders mobile and crawler cranes from Liebherr worth 42 million euros

  • The major order includes telescopic and lattice boom cranes with lifting capacities from 220 to 1350 tonnes
  • TOPKRAN is expanding its fleet at the top end with two LR 11350 cranes
  • Good partnership and high quality are the reasons behind placing the order with Liebherr

Moscow-based crane rental company TOPKRAN placed an order with Liebherr at the start of December for the delivery of mobile and crawler cranes worth a total of 42 million euros. The order includes cranes with lifting capacities between 220 and 1350 tonnes. The need to meet the rising demand in the Russian market persuaded TOPKRAN to significantly expand its fleet.

The owners of the Russian crane and heavy haulage contractor, Grigori Grigorian and Karen Mkhitaryan, travelled to the manufacturing plant in Ehingen to sign the contract. They said, "The market in Russia is growing and so is demand for large cranes. We have a long term partnership with Liebherr and the products meet our high quality requirements. That is why we are expanding our fleet with Liebherr cranes."

The order includes two LTR 1220 telescopic crawler cranes, two LTM 1300-6.2 telescopic mobile cranes, two LR 11350 crawler cranes and one LR 1350/1, as well as an LG 1750 lattice boom mobile crane. The last of these will be the first crane of this type in Russia. Just last year TOPKRAN purchased an LTM 1750-9.1 telescopic mobile crane which was also the first of its kind on the Russian market and has proven extremely successful ever since. It therefore did not take much consideration for TOPKRAN to order another mobile crane with a maximum lifting capacity of 750 tonnes. However, this one will have a lattice boom like the LG 1750. The new cranes will primarily be used for work in industry, petrochemicals and infrastructure projects.

TOPKRAN was founded in 2005 and was initially involved in the rental of earthmoving machines. It purchased its first cranes in 2008. With over 300 employees, 60 mobile and crawler cranes and 60 tower cranes, TOPKRAN is now one of the leading crane rental companies in Russia and also provides complete solutions for heavy haulage. The company continues to grow and the management is looking to the future optimistically.

Grigori Grigorian explains: "Signing this contract will build further on our partnership with Liebherr and provide additional stimulus for our continued development, which is very important to us. To date TOPKRAN has only been active in Russia. As from 2018, we intend to extend our markets to CIS countries." Karen Mkhitaryan adds: "TOPKRAN plans to extend its range of services. We plan to offer complete project services, from logistics to installation, so that our customers can optimise their cost base and can order complete solutions from a single contractor."
