Liebherr-Aerospace Saline, Inc. has recently) set up testing capabilities for shimmy dampers installed on the E170 and E190 aircraft of operators in the Americas. Thus, the company is able to carries out the tests at its facility in Saline, Michigan (USA). In the past, such tests were solely performed at Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH in Lindenberg (Germany) .

About 2,200 shimmy dampers are installed on the E-Jet s of operators all over the world, of which over 50% are based in the Americas.

The shimmy damper dampens the torsional movement of the wheels, which are transmitted to the main fitting through the torque links when the aircraft is taxiing. It is installed at the pivot point between the upper and lower torque links of the main landing gear shock strut. It
