  • LTM 1350-6.1 and LTM 1400-7.1 mobile cranes launch ship's hull into water in tandem hoist
  • Tight spaces and the low capacity of the quay in Friedrichshafen in Germany make the lift a challenge
  • Wiesbauer was engaged in planning for around three months

The “Seegold” is a new motor ship for shuttle services on Lake Constance. In May two Liebherr mobile cranes have launched the 100-tonne ship's hull into the water. Tight spaces and the low capacity of the quay in Friedrichshafen made the lift a challenge. In use were an LTM 1350-6.1 from the Wiesbauer company, and an LTM 1400-7.1 from Paule.

The Seegold was built in the Lux-Werft in Bonn. The first stage of the journey to Lake Constance for the 32 metre long and 7.8 metre wide ship progressed along the river Neckar. In Heilbronn Wiesbauer lifted the ship out of the Neckar and loaded it on to a Spedition Kübler low loader. Finally, the heavy transport made his way to Friedrichshafen, where the final lift took place.

“Due to the space required and the supporting pressures, we worked on the planning for around three months,” says Jochen Wiesbauer, managing director of Wiesbauer GmbH & Co. KG. Finally, the experts decided to use an LTM 1350-6.1 from their own fleet, and an LTM 1400-7.1 from Hermann Paule GmbH & Co.KG. The lift itself ran smoothly: the two Liebherr mobile cranes launched the ship's hull into the water with a tandem hoist. Thereafter, the separately transported wheelhouse was placed on the hull.

The first stop for the Seegold was the Wallhausen harbour, where a few more work operations for completion of the ship were carried out. Meanwhile, the motor ship sails as shuttle traffic between Wallhausen and Überlingen.
