News | 05/24/2023 Karunia adds two more R 9200s to its fleet at Tabang mine in Indonesia

In March, PT Liebherr Indonesia Perkasa (Liebherr Indonesia) completed the assembly and commission of two 200 t mining excavators for PT Karunia Armada Indonesia (Karunia) – a mining contractor headquartered in Balikpapan, East Kalimantan. This brings the number of R 9200s operating at the Tabang mine to three.

L for Liebherr – Liebherr Indonesia presents Karunia with two ceremonial R 9200 keys to symbolise the handover of the new machines.

"From the outset of our partnership, Liebherr has accompanied us in all aspects of our work,” comments Noval Asfihani, President Director of Karunia. The customer is currently working to remove the overburden at Tabang mine under a contract for PT Bayan Resources Tbk. Under this contract, Karunia is expected to steadily increase production on site. The addition of these two new R 9200s will support Karunia as the mining contractor works to achieve this objective. “Liebherr’s first-class support, coupled with the exceptional performance of its equipment, is precisely what has enabled us to achieve our targets with confidence,” continues Asfihani.

Jaka Subali, Liebherr Indonesia's Product Support Representative, was responsible for the assembly of the two R 9200s. He states, "The communication and coordination with the Karunia team went like clockwork. Thanks to constructive interaction and outstanding planning, we were able to complete the assembly four days ahead of schedule.”

Liebherr Indonesia and Karunia began their partnership in 2021 with the commissioning of an R 9100 mining excavator. Karunia’s fleet of Liebherr mining equipment has grown over time, with deliveries of both 100 t and 200 t excavators, 70 t dozers, and the first R 9300 validation unit. Four more R 9300s are to be delivered to Karunia from late 2023 to early 2024.
