Material tester
As a material tester, you examine the properties and composition of different materials and products and look for flaws in them. You then record the results in a protocol. In doing so, you work closely with the development and production departments.

Checking the surface hardness of a sawn output shaft
In the specialist area of metal technology, destructive and non-destructive testing methods are employed to examine chiefly metallic materials with regard to their hardness, strength or joint. Various test instruments, particularly microscopes, universal testing machines as well as hardening test installations, are available as aids to do this. Material testers with a specialism in heat treatment technology understand how the strength of metallic materials changes. Here, they take samples for quality testing, in some cases also during the production process, and prepare these for analysis.
