Heavy loads with high mobility – these are the two main characteristics of Liebherr lattice boom mobile cranes. Whilst the boom on LG® cranes is a lattice version similar to a crawler crane, the undercarriage has been adopted from all-terrain cranes.
The lattice boom ensures that it can hoist heavy loads. The undercarriage with wheels, on the other hand, provides the required mobility, enabling it to move quickly and easily from site to site.
All LG® cranes are designed to comply with current road regulations so that they are suitable for use throughout the world. The boom is erected at the site.
This means that the LG series combines the excellent performance of crawler cranes and all-terrain mobile cranes in a single crane type.
Well designed transport
Different licensing regulations for road traffic apply in various regions of the world. Our LG® cranes generally travel on the road with a 12 t axle load. The outriggers can also be removed as standard to ensure that road licences can be obtained even if lower axle load requirements apply.
Functional boom systems
A wide range of boom systems for the most diverse purposes is available for the LG range of lattice boom mobile cranes. Different versions are available both of the main boom and of the derrick. We attach great value to keeping the equipment for the LG® series compatible with that for comparable crawler cranes. For example, for the LG 1750 and the LR 1750/2 crawler crane.
All-terrain chassis
Our LG® cranes feature superb mobility on any terrain. This is guaranteed by the chassis and powertrain technology we design in-house. The crane provides the operator with extraordinary manoeuvrability – and a comfortable workplace as well. Five different steering systems deliver the right solution for every situation.
Memorial against war and destruction
After 17 years under construction, the Frauenkirche in Dresden was completed in 1743 – and was then destroyed in just 2 days at the end of the Second World War in 1945. A small part remained as a ruin and memorial until reconstruction commenced in 1994. The new building was completed in 2005, financed mainly by support groups and donations from all over the world. An LG 1550 positioned the dome with its cupola cross to mark the end of the construction work.
Europe’s largest infrastructure project at the current time is Grand Paris – the expansion and continuation of the Paris Metro involving 68 new stations and doubling the rail network. LG series cranes are permanent action here, for example hoisting bridges and assembling tunnel drilling machines.
An LG 1750 installs a falling film evaporator to increase production of wheat starch at a factory in Lower Austria.
There is a large selection of boom configurations for the LG 1750 which have been specially enhanced for use in the wind industry. The latest generation of wind turbines with hub heights of up to 166 m can be erected using the SX system. The extending SX2 or SX3 boom kits enable lifting capacity is to be increased even further.
When we decided to buy a lattice tower crane, the options from Liebherr were crawler crane or mobile crane. We decided on the LG 1750 mobile crane as a result of its better mobility and slightly higher lifting capacity.

In addition to its enormous lifting capacity, the LG 1750 delivers great flexibility. It can be made ready for use quickly and low cost as the basic machine can be driven on public roads. Fewer transport vehicles are required compared to a crawler crane and the set-up time is shorter. It is the perfect machine for heavy hoists and short term jobs – set up, one hoist, dismantle, and straight off to the next job.

Bridge hoist with a surprise -
LG 1750 with sufficient reserves
As part of the Stuttgart 21 infrastructure project, a pedestrian bridge had to be removed and replaced by a new railway bridge in Baden-Württemberg's state capital. Crane contractor Wiesbauer assembled its Liebherr LG 1750 lattice mast crane on the banks of the River Neckar to remove the wooden bridge. Despite the bridge weight being significantly higher than expected, the crane successfully completed the work.

Liebherr lattice boom mobile crane hoists giant lock gates
All six gates on the barrage of the fishing and yacht dock had to be removed for the refurbishment of the dock gates in Büsum. A Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom mobile crane had a genuine challenge on its hands, namely hoisting the 90 tonne steel gates. With a radius of 67 metres, the massive crane had to manage a gross load of over 100 tonnes.

“Grand Paris” -
Liebherr involved in one of the outstanding projects of the century
Mediaco took a step towards securing its future by recently purchasing a Liebherr LG 1750 lattice boom crane. The mobile crane has already completed one or two hoists of a tunnel drilling machine for the "Grand Paris" infrastructure project over the last few months. Maximum load cases of around 300 tonnes are a matter of course for the LG 1750. The crane is generally set up in compact form with a 35 metre main boom and a derrick boom, making it strong enough for jobs on the underground railway sites.
