"It is difficult to single out the most exciting project. Each construction site poses new challenges – each with its own history."

Pawel Walus from Niebylec (Poland) has already attended many impressive and international construction sites as crane operator: the Karlsruhe Power Plant, the 25-Story-Hotel in Copenhagen, subway stations in Malmö und Stockholm; to name but a few.

Pawel loves the fantastic view from his "small office up there".

In 2019, Pawel worked all year long on a 280 EC-H 12 in Norway on the construction of the new Varodd Bridge, which leads the European Road18 over the Topdalsfjord in Kristiansand. He enjoys working in the Scandinavian region where the rhythm – working for four weeks and then two weeks of home leave – can best be realised. Furthermore, the region scores with exciting construction projects, modern tower cranes and efficiently organised work.

"The best thing about my job as a crane operator is the view I can enjoy from my small office up there."

What he really loves is the height. His highest crane up to now was a Liebherr 180 EC-H 10 with an erection height of 140 metres. His dream is to climb up once a Liebherr 1000 EC-B with a height of up to 200 metres.

"I bear the responsibility for everything and everyone – underneath the crane and around the crane."

Despite his motto "Nothing ventured, nothing gained", he is aware of his great responsibility for his colleagues and the project. He loves the daily challenges that this job entails. Together with his colleagues, he braves the wind, the sun, the fog and does his best every day to keep the pulse of the construction site.

At the age of 21, Pawel tested whether this job was the right one for him. Meanwhile, he has been working as a crane operator for 17 years and cannot image a greater job. In his leisure time, he likes reading, working out at the gym and sometimes goes fishing fresh fish for himself and his family.
