Since 1966, ThyssenKrupp Rothe Erde has been a satisfied customer of Liebherr-Verzahntechnik. Rothe Erde is the biggest manufacturer of large diameter bearings in the world. The factory in Lippstadt manufactures gears up to 10,000 millimetres, e.g. for large diameter bearings in wind turbine systems or cranes. Certain work steps, such as gear milling, are performed by the industrial company in the traditional way on Liebherr machines.

The Liebherr LC 10000 gear cutting machine is employed flexibly in Lippstadt for wet and dry machining.

Currently, the main items of equipment used in Lippstadt are the modular 4-gear hobbing machines for wet and dry machining. Jürgen Lange (graduate engineer), head of factory planning in Lippstadt, is especially impressed by the high productivity and availability of the LC 10000. Fast and simple retooling contribute towards the efficient production processes. This makes it possible to quickly change to other workpieces or from external to internal machining.

Naturally, many things need to be clarified from the outset, particularly with such a large machine. It is not simply a case of erecting it in a production hall. We were constantly in dialogue with Liebherr regarding the design – even when there were slight teething problems. It is important for us as partners that there is mutual respect in projects of this kind. Discussing the projects and individual requirements is quite easy – this has always been the case with the machines”, Jürgen Lange (graduate engineer) emphasises.
