For over 50 years Liebherr has been manufacturing electric machines for a variety of applications. The machines are designed using state-of-the-art procedures by a team of in-house engineers and taking into account all customer requirements. In-house CFD and FEM specialists support us with the development of the machines. This results in robust motors with a long service life.

Product portfolio of Liebherr electric motors

Liebherr manufactures electric motors as compact and maintenance-free three-phase squirrel cage motors and permanent magnet machines. In addition to their robustness, they are also characterised by their high power density. The motors are primarily suited for use in variable speed drives with frequency converters. They also support highly dynamic applications such as quick lifting and lowering of loads.

Liebherr electric motors are designed for a constant nominal torque from standstill up to the rated speed. For speeds above the rated speed, the motors retain continuous output up to 4,500 rpm.

With the lightweight and space-saving design, permanent magnet motors from Liebherr offer an excellent weight/volume-power ratio.

Design and options

Liebherr designs all electric machines with a self-supporting stator package. The smallest size (BG 132) and permanent magnet machines are the exceptions. In addition to providing the active electrical functions, the self-supporting stator also provides the load-bearing capability. The cooling is effected either by convection, or an internal or external fan. Our permanent magnet motors are available with air and water cooling as standard. Squirrel cage machines can also be supplied in a water-cooled version upon request.

All models are based on a modular system and can be upgraded with optional additional components to cover a wide range of applications. The electrical design and the construction principle offer a very good volume-performance ratio in combination with effective cooling. The compact design ensures a low noise level and very smooth operation.
