L 586 – the largest hydrostatically-driven wheel loader in the world
Liebherr set a new standard at Bauma 2007 with the world premiere of the emission Stage IIIA / Tier 3 L 586, the world's largest wheel loader with hydrostatic drive. Liebherr proved that a hydrostatic travel drive alone can drive a fully loaded monster like the L 586 efficiently and powerfully. The standard version of the first L 586 weighed in at almost 32 tonnes. “High handling performance with up to 25 per cent less fuel consumption”, this was the promise made by Liebherr about the largest hydrostatically-driven wheel loader in the world. A decisive factor here was the hydrostatic driveline combined with the special lengthways installation position of the Liebherr diesel engine in the rear. Compared to conventionally driven wheel loaders, the operating weight is much lower, the tipping load is higher, and more material can be moved each operating hour.
The video shows the L 586 with special “chrome paintwork”. Liebherr presented this gem of a wheel loader at Bauma 2007. The special paint finish, similar to the "Chrome Wheel Loader", is always supplied ex works (Liebherr-Werk Bischofshofen GmbH).
