For the first time, Liebherr presents its diesel engine series D98 to the Russian market at the International Trade Fair for Coal Mining Technology, Ugol Rossii & Mining, which takes place in Novokuznetsk (Russia). From 5 to 8 June, 2018, the Components division will be showcasing the first cylinder configuration of the engine series, the D9812. The engine has been specially designed for mining applications and is, therefore, built to withstand the tough conditions of global mining. With outstanding performance in all applications, it can be adapted to fulfil a range of emission standards: fuel consumption optimised, Tier 2 or even EPA Tier 4 final.

Being the first of the three cylinder variants of the series, the engine reaches a power output of up to 2,013 kW (2,700 hp). This outstanding performance ensures high productivity at low costs and low fuel consumption. The engine architecture and high system integration with all key components developed by Liebherr allow the D9812 to achieve a very high efficiency. The intelligent engine control unit (ECU) and the common rail 11.5 fuel injection system by Liebherr match each other perfectly. This is one of the main reasons for the outstandingly low fuel consumption.

The next D98 engines to be presented are the V16 and the V20 with a maximum power output of 2,700 kW (3,620 hp) and 3,300 kW (4,425 hp), respectively.
