Press releases | 10/28/2022 Joel Jensen: An Australian at Bauma

Joel Jensen has been with Liebherr for 10 years and works for the tower cranes product segment. At Bauma, we sent the Cranes and Rigging Manager for Queensland, Australia, on a day of discovery - all the way from Down Under to Germany. Here, he talks about his adventures.

The Flight to Munich: Unfortunately, I did not sleep a great deal on the flight. It has been many years since I have taken a flight overseas and I was so excited about returning to Bauma for the second time!

When I first arrived at my hotel, I was quite jet-lagged and was glad to squeeze in a short rest before joining some colleagues for dinner. When I woke up in the morning and looked out the window of my room, this is the view I was greeted with! This got me excited for the Expo!

I quickly showered and raced downstairs for a beautiful German breakfast. The pretzels! I could not get enough of them, along with the huge selection of pastries, I love pastries! I have to say, the hotel breakfast is one of the best spreads I have ever seen, I think I will be leaving a few kilos heavier!

Walking through those gates of Bauma into rivers of people was breathtaking, I almost felt like I was at a rock concert.

I Love tower Cranes, but I am also a huge fan of mobile cranes, seeing the display was unbelievable and would you have a look at this hook block! That's right, 2000 tons capacity!

The mining equipment that was showcased was so cool! Just look at the size of this Truck, the photo just doesn't do it justice.

Looking out into the Liebherr booth was something else, whatever direction I looked in there was something cool going on and there was always a sea of people looking on in amazement.

The 195 HC-LH, what can I say? I was looking forward to this the most, this is the newest prototype from Liebherr. And we will have the first two off the production line and arriving in Australia early next year. I am excited to ride this machine and introduce it to the Australian market.

The 1188 EC-H hook block, just look at it! This is by far the toughest bit of gear on the market in my eyes.

I love how there is a Tower Crane so close to the ground, this gives attendees a chance to see one up close and personal.

I remember taking this photo and just quietly smiling to myself and thinking, it really is so real to be involved with such a wonderful and powerful team. Every single person in this picture went out of their way to make me feel welcomed, what a team to be a part of!
