Press releases | 07/26/2016 New Liebherr R 924 crawler excavator at TP-Bruetschy: bespoke configuration for diverse applications

  • TP-Bruetschy expands its fleet with a new Liebherr R 924 crawler excavator
  • Bespoke configuration provides diversity and increases productivity
  • Long-term partnership: TP-Bruetschy focuses on quality and reliability

Family-run company TP-Bruetschy recently expanded its fleet with a new R 924 Liebherr crawler excavator. The company is active in the earthmoving, civil engineering and demolition industries and already has ten Liebherr machines. The investment in the new machine offers TP-Bruetschy another advantage in terms of diversity and performance. Key factors in selecting Liebherr were the long-term partnership coupled with a customised solution.

Liebherr’s R 924 crawler excavator with an operating weight of approximately 24 tonnes has a Liebherr diesel engine with a power rating of 120kW / 157HP, which complies with the exhaust emissions standard of Stage IIIB / Tier 4i. Digging forces of 132kN and breakout forces of 178kN guarantee efficient work and ensure high levels of performance and productivity.

Individual configuration for diverse applications

TP-Bruetschy adapted its new R 924 crawler excavator to meet the company’s particular requirements. To cover a range of applications, TP-Bruetschy equipped the machine with numerous tool attachments. These included, for example, a demolition hook, two backhoe buckets, a swivel backhoe bucket, a sorter grab and a crusher bucket.

The machine, developed and produced at Liebherr-France SAS in Colmar, has a 6m straight monoblock boom, a 3m industrial rod and a LC undercarriage with 600mm wide track pads. The undercarriage has a reinforced cover and base plate for the centre section. In addition to this equipment, there is piston rod protection for the stick cylinder, lower belt protection for the rod and piston rod protection for the tilt cylinder. These properties guarantee a high load capacity for the components in the most diverse and difficult applications.

TP-Bruetschy’s R 924 crawler excavator is fitted with the fully-automatic, quick-coupling LIKUFIX system. This system allows fast and safe changeover of tool attachments from the cab and increases productivity and safety. Liebherr also painted the machine in TP-Bruetschy’s company colours: red and blue.

New excavator, reliable long-term partner

The R 924 crawler excavator was purchased as a replacement for another Liebherr machine. The R 902, which dated back to 1997, had reached over 14,000 operating hours. "Our fleet needed to be updated. The R 902 has served its purpose. Our apprentices now use it as a training machine", said Constant Bruetschy, manager of the family-run company.

Various manufacturers were contacted during the process of updating the R 902. Liebherr stood out from the crowd with an individually configurable solution, which met the customer-specific requirements.

TP-Bruetschy has had Liebherr machines in its fleet since the 1970s and since then has maintained a long-term partnership with the locally-based manufacturer and its sales office in Colmar. "My father had already said, ‘If we go with Liebherr, we are choosing quality’, but there was also the proximity to customer services and the quick availability of spare parts," adds Constant Bruetschy.

The quality and reliability of the products were always important factors in terms of TP-Bruetschy‘s customer satisfaction and the proximity to the Liebherr subsidiary in Colmar makes responses to the company’s queries simpler and faster.
