Series-production range
With seven basic gearboxes, the LPI series covers a dynamic torque range from 20,000 Nm to 335,000 Nm. Large customer-specific gearboxes with a maximum torque of 2,300,000 Nm are also available. The gearboxes can be produced with two, three or four stages, with the transmission range extending from 15 to 750. Other gear ratios can be produced on demand.

Applications
Thanks to the high degree of standardisation and reduced component complexity, the planetary gearboxes of the LPI series can be configured for a wide variety of applications. The range can be deployed in both mobile and stationary applications. The gearboxes are especially suited nevertheless for lifting and drive applications, where they can be used for example in rope winches, or in drive units for chain and crawler vehicles.
The gearboxes of the LPI series-production range also form the basis for Liebherr's electrical travel drive systems, offering reliable solutions for charge weights of up to 100 tonnes.
Flexible equipment
Multiple equipment possibilities give LPI-series planetary gearboxes the highest degree of flexibility.
- Interfaces: The interfaces to the motor are designed to allow for the effortless assembly of any conventional electric and hydraulic motor. This ensures the best possible gearbox/motor drive combination.
- Braking: According to purpose, various brake types are available as options. Examples include electromagnetic brakes and multi-disc brakes. Furthermore, customers can choose between two different brake sizes.
- Seals: With radial shaft seals, V-rings and mechanical or labyrinth seals, various gearbox seals are available, to be deployed according to the application.
- Sensor technology: To monitor the oil quality and status, the planetary gearboxes can optionally be fitted with sensors.
Highest quality and reliability
The latest production and materials technologies are used in the manufacturing of LPI gearboxes. This makes the planetary gearboxes a convincing proposition, offering maximum torque with minimum installation space requirements. In their design calculation, the Liebherr engineers use simulation and calculation methods that are state-of-the-art, including the finite element method.
In-house load test rigs are used for final quality control of the products. In addition, in line with the standards of established classification companies, the requisite test certificates can be issued for the new LPI gearboxes and the necessary acceptance tests can be carried out in-house.
