Our crane experts made the multi-award-winning VarioBase® support technology the focal point of the structural steel design for this crane. This means that the LTM 1230-5.1 is the first to have an asymmetrical support base. VarioBase® means that it is now possible to generate particularly high lifting capacities, particularly at the rear working area, over the supports – calculated in real-time by the LICCON controller. VarioBase® Plus is the combination of VarioBase and an asymmetrical support base. Furthermore, the LTM 1230-5.1 has an extremely long telescopic boom. And it also sets new standards in terms of lifting capacity. With lattice extensions, the maximum hook height has been increased by around 10 percent compared to its predecessor. The 5-axle mobile crane is therefore ideal for working with the boom fully raised and at large hook heights, for example for erecting tower cranes or maintenance work for wind turbines.

ECOmode minimises both fuel consumption and noise emissions when operating the crane superstructure. The crane operator sets the required working speed using the control lever. The crane control system calculates the perfect engine speed for the diesel engine.
ECOdrive makes the mobile crane significantly more comfortable and quieter by reducing the engine speed. Faster gearshifting delivers greater dynamic and traction offroad. On the road, the torque from the Liebherr diesel engine is used efficiently to minimise fuel consumption.
Take one engine out to increase lifting capacity. Or more accurately – the superstructure is powered by the undercarriage engine. Gear shafts are routed from the distributor gear in the substructure via two mitre gears to the pump distributor gear in the superstructure. That enables us to remove one engine – and we use this to increase the crane’s lifting capacity.
Hillstart-Aid makes starting on gradients easier. Move off safely and easily without rolling backwards.
The combination of VarioBase technology and the crane’s structural steelwork. A trapezoidal support combined with the various support base delivers even higher lifting capacities, particularly over the crane’s rear outriggers.
Mechanically slewing ballasting cylinders enable the ballast radius to be changed quickly to two different settings. The smaller radius is used in constricted conditions whilst the larger one is used if a higher lifting capacity is required. This significantly increases the crane’s flexibility.
