MK 140 Plus on the Rhine Promenade in Bonn
An MK 140 Plus operated by Salgert GmbH has been at work on the banks of the River Rhine in the former German capital of Bonn. It hoisted roofing material on to a multi-story residential and office building in the District of Bad Godesberg.
As a result of the difficult space conditions, Salgert's MK 140 Plus had to be assembled a relatively long way away from the site.
Both available jib extensions were fitted to the mobile construction crane to enable it to reach the roof behind the treetops from the bank side promenade. The resulting maximum radius of 65m enabled the MK 140 to achieve a lifting capacity at the jib head of 1000kg with just 9 tonnes of additional ballast. The roofing material for this job weighed in at precisely this value.
The Salgert Group of Companies
The Salgert Group of Companies is an independent family-run company with sites in Lohmar, Euskirchen and Königswinter and has been a great fan of the concept of mobile construction cranes for a long time. The company has been providing hoisting and transport services ever since it was founded in 1955 by Hans Salgert. In addition to mobile construction cranes, the company's fleet also includes mobile cranes, working platforms and forklift trucks. Salgert has owned the MK 140 Plus since March 2016.
Benefits in favour of an MK 140 mobile construction crane
Benefits in terms of range
For this job the MK 140 with an additional jib head reached its maximum radius of 65m. That meant it could work easily from the bank path.
The Plus package for greater lifting capacity
A lifting capacity at the jib head of 1000 kg was required to hoist the material onto the residential building. The optional Plus package can increase lifting capacity by 10% if necessary.
Half-sided support for greater flexibility
The half-sided support allows the MK 140 to be used even in constricted conditions.
