Another year and another overall win in the Dakar Rally by members of the Kamaz Master team. Way ahead of the competition, the Russians took first, second, third and fifth place in the overall ranking for the race through Argentina, Bolivia and Chile. This year, the Kamaz Master team used diesel engines from Liebherr for the first time in all four of their trucks.
Since 2009, the Dakar Rally is run in South America. For drivers, vehicles and their components, the race is one of the toughest challenges. The Kamaz Master team opted this year, too, to equip its trucks with the 8-cylinder D9508 A7 engine from Liebherr. For even more reliability and better dynamics, Liebherr developed the racing engines further for the Dakar Rally 2015. Built at Liebherr Machines Bulle SA in Switzerland, the engines are distinguished by a maximum output of 770 kW or 1,047 HP and a maximum torque of 4,500 Nm. The engines accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h within 10 seconds.
The first three places in the Dakar Rally were achieved by trucks from the Kamaz Master team. The winners were Ayrat Mardeev's team who crossed the finishing line in Buenos Aires after 42:22:01 hours. Eduard Nikolaev and Andrey Karginov and their team members followed in second and third place.
Coinciding with the Dakar Rally was the Africa Eco Race in Morocco and Mauritius. A truck from Kamaz Master equipped with a Liebherr V8 engine also ranked first there.

At steinexpo 2026 from 2 to 5 September 2026, Liebherr will be showcasing eight exhibits from its earthmoving, mining and components product ranges. A world first will be unveiled at stand A27, which covers an exhibition space of around 1,000 m². Also on display are a dump truck, two XPower wheel loaders, two Generation 8 crawler dozers, a grid-connected electric mining excavator, a telescopic handler and a mobile energy storage system.
