Efficient and comfortable: BRCM puts the Liebherr R 946 crawler excavator to work

With its extensive machine fleet BRCM, which specialises in the crushing, screening and cleaning of construction materials, is active all over France and processes large volumes of material directly at the customer's site. BRCM was searching for an appropriate machine for supplying its crushers and decided in favour of a new Liebherr R 946 crawler excavator.

With an operating weight of 40 tonnes and a Liebherr engine with a power rating of 220kW / 299HP, the Liebherr R 946 crawler excavator satisfies Stage IV / Tier 4f exhaust gas emission guidelines. The BRCM model has a travel mechanism with a track gauge of 2,590mm and 600mm track pads. The machine also includes a 6.45m mono boom and 2.60m stick.

The company already owns four powerful Liebherr wheel loaders and is completely satisfied with these machines. Tecmat, Liebherr’s local sales partner, is also a reliable and competent partner when it comes to customer service and the servicing of the machines at operating sites.

Efficient and precise

The productive and efficient R 946 offers a high level of operator comfort. The technology is based on the Positive Control dual circuit hydraulic system, an intelligent system that uses sensors located at strategic positions on the excavator. Every command from the excavator’s operator is processed by the control computer, which optimises operation of the engine and hydraulic system. The system enables maximum output with quick, fluid and precise movements. Depending on requirements, the circuits are separated or combined for optimal energy efficiency.

For maximum reliability, particularly in quarries, the R 946 crawler excavator has a very rigid structure. The linkage of the centre piece up to the ends of the track frame, the "X" design, guarantees better stress distribution and increases the service life of the undercarriage and thus the general reliability of the machine.

High level of comfort and optimal ergonomics

The operator's cab provides superb comfort and great ergonomics. The R 946 sets new standards with its spacious and pleasant workstation. With a seat that has pneumatic suspension as standard and ergonomic controls, maximum comfort is guaranteed. The fully-automatic air conditioning system is also a standard feature and ensures consistently pleasant working conditions.
