What digital topics are you currently most concerned with in your daily business?
Usually, you hear "AI" at this point – of course a megatrend that will change a lot. However, I am currently more concerned with the challenge of getting the right data and being able to use it sensibly.
After all, without access to the data of a component, a machine or even an entire ecosystem such as a construction site, no information with added value can be generated or the right actions derived from it.
That is why we are working on data availability across systems and manufacturers. Although standards such as MIC 4.0/ISO 15143-3 or AEMP 2.0 are currently taking root, in my opinion we still have to think of a truly networked construction site in federated data spaces, in our context, the "operating system" of a future construction site. What does that mean exactly? Many companies today use vast amounts of data, thoughmostly within internal silo structures so far. Federated data spaces are intended to help tap into untapped potential through controlled Data Exchange with third parties. For example, logistics processes can be represented, monitored and increasingly automated across service providers and trades, as well as their machines. Therefore, we observe many initiatives and participate in different projects.
What role do connected components play in the modern world of construction machinery?
Connected components are crucial because they continuously generate data through integrated sensors. This data allows us to extract useful information and make it available in real time, which improves decision-making and the efficiency of work processes. In addition, we can learn from past facts and use this experience to plan the future more precisely.
Take, for example, energy demand on a future construction site. The ever-increasing need for electrical energy, combined with the slow expansion of distribution grids, poses even more complex challenges on construction companies . And this is where our digital solutions come into play. These software tools can be made available to a larger number of users to make the existing expert knowledge tangible and applicable.
After all, the more data can be collected during use, the more accurate forecasts can be made and scenarios calculated automatically. This ensures planning security and a timely, smooth, energy- and cost-optimised process on construction sites.

According to our findings, the first step towards controlling energy consumption is stringent planning of energy consumers, for example construction machinery, as well as a run-through of different supply options. Even if construction sites are temporary in nature, energy consumption must be carefully planned. This is already paying off today and will prove to be increasingly necessary with the growing electrification of construction machinery and the resulting sharp increase in electrical energy demand.
