Bogie Coupling Systems for Alstom’s H3 Hybrid Locomotives

Liebherr-Transportation Systems has recently delivered the first hydraulic bogie coupling system for the new three-axle H3 hybrid shunting locomotive to ALSTOM Lokomotiven Service GmbH, Stendal (Germany).

The system designed by Liebherr and Alstom was manufactured by Liebherr. It couples the three axes of the locomotive so that the vehicle can round curves easily despite large axial distances. Thus, the bogie coupling system helps to reduce wear on both wheels and tracks, and to decrease noise emissions. Moreover, the H3 hybrid locomotive can be used for especially heavy shunting operations thanks to Liebherr’s technology.
