Silver EcoVadis medal for Liebherr-Hausgeraete

  • Widespread recognition of progress
  • Voluntary transparency: Corporate Responsibility documentation
  • Resource-conscious use of materials down to the smallest detail
  • EcoVadis – a leading specialist in assessing sustainability

Liebherr-Hausgeräte GmbH’s pursuit of greater sustainability has again been recognised: the company has once more received the Silver EcoVadis medal for its five production sites worldwide in 2025. This sees the specialist in refrigeration and freezing ranked among the top 15 percent of companies in its sector that have been rated by EcoVadis.

Liebherr-Hausgeräte has participated in the EcoVadis sustainability rankings for a number of years. All five of the cooling specialist’s production sites in Germany, Austria, Bulgaria, Malaysia, and India are included in the assessment. The result of this year’s ranking sees Liebherr-Hausgeräte improve from 71 to 75 points in the overall rating compared to the previous year. In particular, the areas of “Policies/Environment”, “Policies/Labour & Human Rights” and “Certifications/Labour & Human Rights” received higher ratings than 2024.

Widespread recognition of progress

Steffen Nagel, Managing Director Sales & Marketing at Liebherr-Hausgeräte GmbH, sees the silver medal both as reason to celebrate and as motivation: “We are delighted with this validation of the steps that we are taking towards sustainability. The current rating shows that we take our environmental, social, and ethical responsibility seriously and are making measurable progress”, says Steffen Nagel. “We will continue to live up to our responsibility in future and reduce the environmental impact of our products over the entire life cycle.”

In this regard, Liebherr-Hausgeräte has recently been recognised for its particular contribution to sustainable transformation with one of the most prestigious sustainability awards in two categories: the company has received the German Sustainability Award 2026 as a pioneer for circular refrigeration and freezing technologies and for its full-vacuum freezer FNXa 522i with BluRoX technology.

Voluntary transparency: Corporate Responsibility documentation

For Liebherr-Hausgeräte, transparency is among the most important indictors of whether companies are carrying out their business responsibly. With this in mind, the company voluntarily published Corporate Responsibility (CR) documentation in 2024. This reappraisal provides comprehensive insight of how Liebherr-Hausgeräte is driving forward sustainability in all areas: from particularly energy-efficient appliances to responsible procurement, initiatives to promote a consistently circular economy, and employee development Further information and the complete CR documentation from Liebherr-Hausgeräte are available at: Corporate Responsibility at Liebherr-Hausgeräte – Liebherr

Resource-conscious use of materials down to the smallest detail

When Liebherr-Hausgeräte customers purchase an appliance, the company’s sustainability efforts can be seen not just in terms of ever-increasing energy efficiency, but also in many details – including the switchover to digital user information . The printed user instructions have been abridged since 2021, a next step will now see the contents of the printed version reduced even further. Instead of comprehensive instructions, compact user information with the most important notes is included with each appliance. The full instructions are available digitally and can be easily accessed via a QR code when needed. The goal is to reduce paper usage.

EcoVadis – a leading specialist in assessing sustainability

EcoVadis is one of the most important providers of corporate sustainability assessments. EcoVadis uses a differentiated process to analyse how companies adopt environmental and social responsibility. The areas of environment, ethics, labour and human rights, and sustainable procurement are evaluated in this regard. Factors such as the sector, company size, and location are incorporated into the rating. More than 100,000 companies have completed the EcoVadis assessment process worldwide. The assessments are based on recognised international standards for corporate responsibility – including the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), the UN Global Compact, and ISO 26000, the social responsibility guidelines for organisations.
