National Mining Services recently purchased five ultra-class haul trucks, which will go to work at Peak Downs Mine in Central Queensland. The five trucks were built over a period of about three and a half months and, most importantly, the team reported zero injuries or safety breaches on the build pad or on site.
These five T 282 C trucks are the final of their kind to come off the production line at Liebherr’s truck factory in Virginia, USA. This 363 t payload class truck will now officially only be produced by Liebherr as the T 284, the T 282 C’s successor. First introduced at MINExpo 2012, the T 284, delivering over 4,000 hp, is the lightest (lowest vehicle weight) and second most capable (highest payload) ultra-class mining truck while offering reduced fuel consumption
Tom Juric, Executive General Manager of Sales and Marketing for Liebherr-Australia, recently accompanied National Mining Services Managing Director, Mark Ackroyd, to commemorate the commissioning and handover of these trucks which were assembled by Liebherr-Australia at the Peak Downs site.
“The journey with National Group from the first time they set foot in our office to these units has been very quick. We knew straight away that National Group was a serious operator and that their relationship focus was second to none, and so the journey from first encounter to delivery was smooth. They are our ideal customer, we enjoy doing business with National Group and we see a very long and healthy future with them,” said Mr. Juric.
Mr. Ackroyd was excited about the new trucks and the opportunity they, and Liebherr, have presented. “I’m very proud of the process and the journey that we have had with these trucks. Liebherr has been fantastic to deal with and are very supportive of what we have done.”
National Mining Services has also recently purchased an R 996 B Hydraulic Excavator which is working in Western Australia for Fortescue Metals Group at Christmas Creek Mine.
Liebherr-Australia looks forward to partnering with National Mining Services to support their five new T 282 C’s as they continue to expand their Liebherr fleet across the country.
A video of the commissioning event can be viewed on National Mining Services YouTube Channel along with footage of the trucks being transported by National Mining Services’ sister company National Heavy Haulage.
