Located southwest of the Norwegian capital Oslo, the Port of Drammen has experienced a container volume increase of 30% between 2012 and 2013. In order to meet new capacity requirements the port made an important investment in the future, ordering a Liebherr LHM 550 mobile harbour crane equipped with Pactronic® hybrid drive system. The new crane provides a lifting capacity of 144 tonnes, about 40 tonnes more than the strongest of the port's existing machines.
The port director Einar Olsen says: “Due to the new LHM 550 we have sufficient capacity to smoothly handle current container volumes. Moreover, we have capacity available for future growth.” The new LHM 550 is the second Liebherr mobile harbour crane for the port, which has been operating an LHM 400 since 2008.
