Liebherr Construction Equipment Co., responsible for the sales and marketing of earthmoving and material handling equipment in the United States was delighted to receive two different product recognitions for its R 956 Crawler Excavator: The “Top 100 New Products Award” by Construction Equipment Magazine and the “Top Roll Outs of 2014” by Aggregates Manager Magazine.
This year, editors of the “Construction Equipment” and “Aggregates Manager” magazines were commissioned to review all product introductions for the earthmoving industry with the goal of selecting the most significant and innovative products and to present manufacturers with their prestigious Top Awards. Both awards recognize manufacturers that invest in breakthrough technologies and deliver outstanding solutions for end-users.
Liebherr’s award winning product – R 956 Crawler Excavator, was displayed this year during Conexpo. A new development in the 50 tone class excavator; specially designed for tough and demanding operations such as earthmoving and quarrying. This machine weighs approximately 122,000 lb (55,338 kg) and is powered by a 326 HP, 6 cylinder/ Tier 4i Liebherr diesel engine. Most of its main components including its diesel engine were developed and manufactured by its own Liebherr Machines division based in Bulle, Switzerland.

Liebherr is increasing the overall service life of its Fibre ropes from 14 to 16 years, with the decisive period of use rising to up to 12 years. This is based on multi-year ageing trials on test rigs and analyses of ropes already in field. The new ruling applies automatically to all new ropes and those already in the field. This step forms part of Liebherr's ongoing path towards establishing Fibre technology as the new standard in the tower crane market.
