Liebherr-Aerospace will participate in The eVTOL Show Europe, which takes place on February 12, 2026, in Stuttgart (Germany). In addition to a booth in the exhibition area, Joachim Bihr, Chief Engineer at Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg GmbH, will deliver a presentation on the development of modular actuation systems for the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market.
Liebherr-Aerospace will welcome guests to its booth at The eVTOL Show Europe in Stuttgart (Germany) on February 12, 2026. The event is considered as one of the leading networking hubs for the European eVTOL community.
The team will present its Liebherr Versatile Control and Actuation System called LiVCAS ®. This is a modular, scalable, and certifiable “plug-and-play” solution developed specifically for eVTOL needs, accelerating time-to-market with defined modules. Liebherr’s broader “more-electric” portfolio replaces hydraulic systems with lighter, more efficient electric solutions, supporting the industrialization of safe, reliable urban and regional air mobility.
At the conference, Joachim Bihr, Chief Engineer at Liebherr-Aerospace Lindenberg, will provide insights into the development of flight-critical actuation systems for the Advanced Air Mobility (AAM) market. During his speaker session he will explore how modular electromechanical actuators (EMA) architectures are being adapted to meet stringent requirements for weight, integration and reliability in autonomous eVTOLs, and how collaboration between suppliers and manufacturers supports certification, scalability, and full-rate production. Key topics include the integration of actuation into avionics and flight-control systems, implementation of built-in redundancy to meet safety objectives, and the challenges and opportunities presented by the AAM sector.
For many years, Liebherr has manifested its position as a leader in the development and production of EMA’s for medium to large commercial aircraft. Its new concept of smaller actuators addresses not only the AAM sector but covers also smaller aircraft, business jets and helicopters. Liebherr's EMA family concept benefits from the experience gained from millions of flight hours in numerous aircraft programs with actuators and associated electronics over the past decades. The development approach offers scalability for small installation spaces, a favorable power-to-weight ratio and high reliability.
