Rocksure expands its fleet: first Liebherr LRT 1130-2.1 handed over in Ghana

With the acquisition of a Liebherr LRT 1130-2.1, Rocksure International Limited is expanding its lifting capacities and pursuing a strategic diversification of its services. The 130-tonne rough terrain crane is the first of its kind in Ghana. The decision to invest was not a difficult one: Rocksure had already acquired two Liebherr LRT 1090-2.1 cranes in 2025 and gained positive experience with them. “The cranes are extremely robust and manoeuvrable. Therefore, the move to a model with a higher lifting capacity was the logical next step,” explains Kwasi Osei Ofori, CEO of Rocksure.

The powerful rough terrain crane offers decisive advantages, particularly in the dynamic environment of the mining industry. With lifting capacities of 130 tonnes and a telescopic boom up to 60 metres long, it is ideally equipped for demanding lifting operations. A key deciding factor was the LRT 1130-2.1’s pick-and-carry function which enables loads to be lifted and moved simultaneously within the worksite. This eliminates the need for rigging and levelling work, which significantly speeds up workflows and boosts efficiency.

Efficient mining operations thanks to high flexibility

The new crane will primarily be used by Rocksure’s existing mining partners in Ghana. “The LRT 1130-2.1 is the largest Liebherr rough terrain crane in Ghana and a clear statement of our growth ambitions. The increased capacity of our fleet opens up additional business opportunities for us,” reports Ofori. In total, the Rocksure fleet now comprises three Liebherr cranes – further investments are already planned.

“In addition to product quality, Liebherr’s strong regional presence was also a decisive factor in the purchase of the new LRT 1130-2.1,” says Ofori. Rocksure works closely with Liebherr-Ghana Ltd., which provides comprehensive on-site support and services. “We place great emphasis on local value creation and adherence to strict health, safety and environmental standards,” adds Ofori.
