Liebherr-Transportation Systems recently received from Siemens Mobility GmbH, Munich (Germany) the order to develop cooling brake resistor flap actuators for Velaro Novo high-speed trains. 24 electro-hydraulic actuators will be required for each train set, which consists of two end cars and six trailer vehicles.
The electro-hydraulic actuator opens and closes the train’s brake resistor flaps as needed. The fairing of the vehicle body helps improve aerodynamics when the train is in operation.
The energy-efficient Velaro Novo stands out in comparison to the previous Velaro vehicle concepts through its optimized energy consumption and maintenance costs. The train was presented to an international audience for the first time at InnoTrans 2018.
