Systematic maintenance: Liebherr presents concept for the Digital Service Booklet

  • Efficient service recording: digital checklist for maintenance work with comment function and progress tracking
  • Intuitive user interface: clear visualisation of crane type, service history and operating hours provide all information online from a single source
  • Continuous further development: integration of telemetry data and support for older appliances planned

Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH is presenting its concept for the Digital Service Booklet at Bauma 2025. The tool simplifies the maintenance and servicing of mobile cranes and provides both service technicians and crane operators with a user-friendly platform for managing service and maintenance information. This means that all information about the life cycle of a mobile crane can be collected online in one place and viewed at any time.

Specially tailored to the requirements of crane operators, the Digital Service Booklet will enable structured and efficient documentation of all maintenance and service work carried out on mobile cranes. The integration of crawler cranes is planned for a later date. The new tool is aimed at two main user groups: service technicians on the customer side and service technicians at Liebherr. The MyLiebherr platform is used to access the appliances in the respective fleet and save service entries. The Digital Service Booklet will be made available in stages for new crane types.

The user interface of the Digital Service Booklet is simple and clearly laid out. The crane type, the last service, the operating hours and the customer’s name are displayed on the start page. The main navigation on the right-hand side allows users to select different service intervals based on the specific requirements of the device. “With the Digital Service Booklet, we are offering our customers an intuitive platform that enables them to efficiently document and manage maintenance work and have it available at any time at the touch of a button. This significantly reduces the time required and improves service quality,” says Steffen Stökler-Thurn, who played a key role in the development as Product Owner at Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH.

Efficient service recording and history

A key feature of the Digital Service Booklet is the ability to record service work via a centralised checklist. This is divided into the superstructure and chassis areas and displays all the necessary activities – such as the replacement of engine oil and oil filters. Users can add comments, view details of recent edits or save the progress of service work to continue later.

The maintenance history in the Digital Service Booklet is clearly structured. Completed services are displayed in green, while incomplete services are marked in red. The overview of the service history is a decisive advantage for Liebherr customers, especially for large fleets. “Not only can they see the maintenance status of their cranes at a glance, but they can also track the quality and regularity of the services carried out”, explains Stökler-Thurn and adds: “If a customer decides to resell a crane and can demonstrate a comprehensive service history, this is of course an additional benefit. We all know this from cars.”

For the benefit of customers: continuous further development

The last few months have been shaped by the development of a powerful database that links service instructions and configuration data in order to make all the relevant information for each crane available in the online application. "We will continue to develop the Digital Service Booklet on an ongoing basis in order to integrate additional functions and an even broader database. Future expansion stages will also enable the integration of telemetry data in order to further increase the efficiency, user-friendliness and automation of the web services and improve the quality of our service," says Stökler-Thurn.

The Digital Service Booklet will initially be available in German and English, and other languages will be added in the coming months. In addition to LICCON2 and LICCON3 cranes, older appliances will also benefit from the advantages of the tool – this extension is also planned for the next expansion stage.
