Mobile and crawler cranes from Liebherr: digital in operation, digital at Bauma

  • New functions in the Crane Finder, additional crane types in the Crane Planner
  • Keep an eye on equipment status with “Performance” and the Digital Service Booklet
  • Simulator enables crane operator training in 4D

From lift planning and crane operator training to maintenance, Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH will be presenting its digital solutions for crane operation at Bauma 2025: visitors to the trade fair can find out about new products and updates both in the outdoor area in the mobile and crawler crane section and in the “Digital Technologies & Services” indoor area opposite.

The transformation of working and living environments is progressing. Digitalisation is a megatrend that Liebherr-Werk Ehingen GmbH is also using to create innovations. Particular focus is being placed on customised, sustainable solutions with measurable added value for customers.

Crane Finder with new features

The Crane Finder helps you find the right crane for an upcoming lift and set it up perfectly. By entering a few details quickly and easily, such as the load, required height and radius, the Crane Finder outputs a whole range of possible cranes for the job. The application favours the smallest possible crane with the lowest configuration and first suggests the crane types registered by the customer via MyLiebherr.

A new function of the Crane Finder now makes it possible to match the crane selection even more precisely to the job: for example, if the crane driver knows that the site is constricted, he can choose a small support system. Another new feature is the freezing of selected entries. For example, the small support is retained even if other parameters are changed. There is also an update with regard to the crane portfolio: from Bauma onwards, users can plan their jobs with Liebherr mobile construction cranes (MK) in the Crane Finder.

The Crane Finder is free of charge and available for all Liebherr mobile and crawler cranes. Whether computer, tablet or mobile phone, the application can be used free of charge on various devices.

Expanded crane portfolio in the Crane Planner

The best way for dispatchers or engineering offices to plan the exact deployment is with Crane Planner 2.0. When it comes to the detailed lifting process with geometry, loads, utilisation and support forces, every job can be simulated to scale and in 3D on the computer. Users have also recently been able to import 3D construction site models in DWG and IFC formats into the Crane Planner and thus adapt the lifting operation even more precisely to the real conditions on the construction site.

Liebherr has expanded its crane portfolio in the Crane Planner for Bauma 2025: for the first time, planning in 3D is also possible with a telescopic crawler – the LTR 1150. The LTC 1050-3.1 has also been added in telematics, rope and electric versions. Users can choose from a total of 44 machines – including 15 LTM cranes, two LTC cranes, one LTR, one LRT and 26 cranes from Liebherr in Nenzing.

Telemetry: everything in view with “Performance”

With the “Performance” telemetry application, Liebherr enables precise monitoring of the customer’s crane fleet, which makes work on the construction site safer, more efficient and more sustainable. Whether from the office or while on the road: customers can see live where which crane is located, whether the current wind force allows safe working or how heavy the load currently hanging on the hook is. The fill level and the consumption of fuel and AdBlue are also displayed. Since 2023, Liebherr mobile cranes have been equipped with Liebherr Connect, i.e. a modem and a SIM card, as standard and are therefore telemetry-capable. Cranes built from 2018 onwards can also be retrofitted with a modem for Performance in future, provided they have a fleet management interface (FMS). And the same applies to the retrofit solution: data transmission via Liebherr Connect is free of charge for our customers worldwide. The Performance application is currently available for LTM cranes and can be accessed via the MyLiebherr platform after obtaining a free licence. Further crane types will be added to Performance in the coming months.

Digital Service Booklet

Liebherr is presenting the concept of the new Digital Service Booklet at Bauma: this tool will simplify the maintenance and servicing of mobile cranes and provides both service technicians and crane operators with a user-friendly platform for managing service and maintenance information. This means that all information about the life cycle of a mobile crane can be collected in one place, online, and viewed at any time. The MyLiebherr platform is used to access the cranes in the respective fleet and save service entries. The Digital Service Booklet will be made available in stages for new crane types.

Crane simulator – 4D training with all the senses

With the mobile crane simulator from Tenstar, Liebherr is enabling crane operators to receive effective training without having to tie up a crane from the customer’s fleet. This saves costs and minimises the risk of accidents during training. As the simulator is powered by electricity, it contributes to a positive CO2 balance. Equipped with three screens, master switch, a seat on a moving platform and VR goggles, the simulator offers an immersive training experience: the program is available in 25 languages and offers various tutorials to train all crane functions (turning, lifting, telescoping and luffing).

The crane simulator has been available since 2024 and has already been delivered to customers worldwide. Currently, superstructure operation can be simulated using the example of an LTM 1060-3.1. Due to the positive response, the development of a simulation of chassis travel is being planned. Together with Tenstar, a crane world is also to be created that offers training opportunities on various crane models.

Improving engine condition with LiDIA

The LiDIA diagnostic tool provides a quick overview of all information on the engine system – engine status with add-on parts, active and passive error codes as well as current restrictions and error responses. It is compatible with all mobile cranes equipped with a Liebherr engine from emission stage 4. LiDIA was designed for daily use in maintenance and troubleshooting in the system. In the extended version, it enables access to a large number of the combustion engine’s specific diagnostic functions. Diagnostic data is forwarded securely and easily to customer service. Thanks to its intuitive operating concept, the solution also enables crane drivers to carry out diagnostics, system tests and minor repairs themselves in order to operate their cranes efficiently – maximising engine availability, saving costs and the odd on-site maintenance visit. Thanks to LiDIA, service technicians can connect to the engine remotely and make diagnoses.
