Liebherr InnovationLab at Bauma 2025 – experience future technologies at close hand

  • In the InnovationLab at Bauma 2025, Liebherr presents future-oriented technologies and concepts for the construction and mining industry of today and tomorrow
  • Digitalisation, advanced machine operation, and drive and material technology are in the spotlight
  • ‘Hands on’: visitors can explore innovative solutions, benefit from live demos and even get hands-on when testing interactive exhibits

Under the motto ‘Hands on the future’, Liebherr is showcasing practical products, technologies and solutions for the future of the construction and mining industry at Bauma 2025. The InnovationLab at the booth in the outdoor area is playing host to pioneering concepts from various Liebherr product segments. This encompasses a variety of technologies and solutions from different areas of research and development relating to future-oriented technologies at Liebherr: visitors can get ‘hands-on’ as they discover more about digitalisation, advanced machine operation, drive technologies and material technology.

Munich (Germany), 7 April 2025 – As a traditional company and reliable partner, Liebherr has played a key role in shaping the history of technology in many industries and markets for over 75 years – and this will continue to be the Group’s intention in the future. For this reason, Liebherr pursues ambitious research and development goals in a responsible manner, working hand-in-hand with customers. With a diverse exhibition programme, Liebherr’s InnovationLab at Bauma 2025 provides in-depth insights into the Group’s key fields of research and development and present technological innovations and pioneering concepts. Once again, Liebherr is underlining its technological expertise and, working with and for its customers and partners, taking a proactive, ‘hands-on’ approach today to prepare for the challenges of tomorrow in order to continue to redefine the limits of what has been – and what still could be – possible.

The focus is on digitalisation, advanced machine operation, as well as innovative drive and material technologies. Liebherr is casting a spotlight on these essential themes for the future viability of the construction and mining industry and is taking an especially practical approach to conveying the application of its innovations developed for this purpose. For example, visitors to the InnovationLab can move a crawler dozer located over a hundred kilometres away via remote control or use a Liebherr-developed web application for the autonomous operation of a machine under real conditions.

Liebherr is also demonstrating potential applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in the InnovationLab – for example, using chatbots in the customer service department. Advanced material technologies round off the exhibition and discovery programme in the InnovationLab. Through all this, Liebherr demonstrates its innovative strength and technological expertise, and visitors to Bauma can enjoy the opportunity to explore pioneering technologies for relevant topics of today and tomorrow.

The technologies of the future – highlights from the Liebherr InnovationLab 2025

Liebherr Autonomous Operations redefines efficiency and safety in day-to-day work and will make fully autonomous machine operation possible in the future. Liebherr is showcasing two important components of this autonomous system in the InnovationLab. A 3D photo booth invites visitors to see themselves through the ‘eyes’ of a machine. Those entering the photo booth will be able to see on a monitor just how the machine perceives its surroundings. A printing station will produce images based on these perceptions, which visitors can take home with them.

Another highlight in the InnovationLab is Liebherr’s Autonomous Job Planner web application, which enables intuitive planning of autonomous work assignments. At Bauma 2025, the Autonomous Job Planner is being used to plan the work orders of two autonomous wheel loaders on site and to execute them without any involvement from a machine operator. The autonomous technology on display is installed on normal series-production wheel loaders. In the future, the application will potentially also be compatible and combinable with other autonomous Liebherr machines, achieving maximum flexibility and practicality for customers.

Thanks to two LiReCon control stations (Liebherr Remote Control), several Liebherr machines can be controlled remotely from a real driver’s seat. Cutting-edge assistance systems ensure efficient use of the remote-controlled machines, even when they are in operation hundreds of kilometres away. For example, visitors have the opportunity to operate a PR 726 crawler dozer at the Liebherr factory premises in Telfs (Austria). Using a LiReCon application, Liebherr is also able to demonstrate the effect of different drive types on the machine’s carbon emissions during use.

Liebherr is also presenting the prototype of the battery-electric and autonomous S1 Vision on site. This single-axle truck has the potential to revolutionise the future of material transport. The S1 Vision focuses exclusively on the core components that are actually relevant for material transport. S1 Vision is a pioneering innovation characterised by compactness, manoeuvrability and impressive performance data. The truck is designed to be scalable, with a payload ranging from 220 kilograms up to 131 tonnes. Because of this flexibility in its payload, the S1 Vision can be adapted for various applications such as traditional construction including earthmoving, farming and agriculture, but also in mining.

Liebherr is the expert and market leader in many product areas. The Group is a technology company with a broadly diversified product programme, which includes a total of 13 product segments. At Bauma 2025, Liebherr is therefore also showcasing technologies that transcend the construction and mining industries. In the InnovationLab, Liebherr is presenting its cradle-to-cradle (C2C) certified BluRoX technology; in the atrium, visitors can gain insights into the world of refrigerators and freezers or the aerospace product segment.

With this hugely diverse exhibition programme, Liebherr is providing in-depth insights into the Group’s key areas of research in the InnovationLab and, at all its booths at Bauma 2025, showing how Liebherr combines innovation and practice to make the construction site of tomorrow more efficient, safer and more sustainable. Once again, Liebherr is demonstrating how the Group intends to help shape technology in many industries in the future and is already working today to address the challenges that customers will face tomorrow.
