First LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane in Brazil – Guindastes Tatuapé places its trust in Liebherr

  • First LTR 1220 telescopic crawler crane in Brazil in use
  • Guindastes Tatuapé is delighted by the concept of Liebherr's LTR cranes
  • Liebherr provides powerful cranes and excellent service

The versatile telescopic crawler cranes built by Liebherr are delighting Brazilian company Guindastes Tatuapé. An LTR 1220 crane was delivered to Tatuapé in the middle of this year. It is the first crane of this type in Brazil and since then it has worked on a wide variety of sites – from football stadiums and factories to ports and railway tracks. The company is enjoying the benefits of the great economy of Liebherr telescopic crawler cranes.

Guindastes Tatuapé based in Sao Paolo has been persuaded by the benefits of Liebherr telescopic crawler cranes – the cranes are so versatile, excellent on rough terrain and also have high load capacities. Tatuapé has had an LTR 1100 100-tonne telescopic crawler crane since 2009. Its investment in the LTR 1220 is confirmation of the company's satisfaction with this crane concept. With a load capacity of 220 tonnes and a 60 metre telescopic boom it created a new class of crane and is the most powerful telescopic crawler crane on the market.

"We have managed to gain a good deal of experience with this crane concept using the LTR 1100. We know how versatile telescopic crawler cranes are. What is more the costs on the site are relatively low since they can be driven when fully equipped", reports Denys Garzon, Director of Guindastes Tatuapé. In comparison to conventional crawler cranes, LTR cranes can retract their telescopic booms easily if, for example, they have to travel over sites with steep gradients and then extend them again very quickly.

Tatuapé also has four LTM 1220-5.2 telescopic mobile cranes from Liebherr and is extremely satisfied with their flexible and multi-variable boom systems. "Why should we not invest in a crane of the same class with even greater versatility?" asks Denys Garzon rhetorically.

Tatuapé's new LTR 1220 has already seen several sites in Brazil. It has been used to build football stadiums, in concrete factories and for hoisting work at ports. One of its current jobs is the erection of concrete beams for the construction of a new railway line operated by CPTM at Guarulhos Airport in Sao Paolo, which can now be completed earlier than planned thanks to the LTR 1220.

Guindastes Tatuapé counts Liebherr among its most important business partners. Denys Garzon says: "Our business relationship with the Liebherr plant in Ehingen has been going since the nineties. We regard ourselves as a major customer of Liebherr's and regard Liebherr as one of our most important partners. Not to mention the high capacity of Liebherr machines and the extremely quick after-sales service." Tatuapé was founded in 1960 and is still owned by the family today. The company has a workforce of 280 and has a fleet of 100 cranes. Tatuapé attaches great value to ensuring that all the machines in its fleet feature modern, powerful technology.
