5 things you should know about the R 920 G8-E crawler excavator

Under the motto ‘Hands on the future’, Liebherr will be showcasing solutions for the construction sites of the future at Bauma 2025. Discover over 70 exhibits and a variety of individual solutions at Liebherr's 14,000 m² booth – including the R 920 G8-E battery-electric crawler excavator. Here you can find out five exciting things about this extraordinary exhibit.

Locally emission-free and with low noise pollution

The new battery-electric crawler excavator produces no exhaust emissions locally. The electric R 920 G8-E also impresses with its particularly quiet operation, which ensures greater noise comfort inside and outside the cab. The R 920 G8-E scores particularly well on construction sites in city centres and in enclosed halls thanks to its zero local emissions and low noise levels.

Just as powerful as a diesel

With an output of 115 kW, the electric motor of the R 920 G8-E delivers the same power as a diesel engine of the same class. The electric drive guarantees consistent performance and maximum efficiency on the construction site. The battery-electric drive also generates fewer vibrations, which contributes to better working conditions for the machine operator.

Operating time for one working day

The R 920 G8-E is powered by a high-voltage battery with a capacity of 188 kWh (standard) or 282 kWh (high capacity). Depending on the location and application, the R 920 G8-E has an operating time of six to eight hours without intermediate charging. This duration is sufficient for the requirements of a normal working day on the construction site.

Simple and efficient charging

The machine can be charged with direct current (DC) up to 150 kW or with alternating current up to 44 kW. If the battery is charged with direct current at 150 kW for one hour between two work periods, the operating time is extended to 10 hours. With the R 920 G8-E, you can enjoy the advantages of electric drive and benefit from fuel savings and low maintenance costs.

Modern driver’s cab with INTUSI

The integration of INTUSI, the intuitive operating concept, into the new driver’s cab ensures a special user experience. This modern operating environment offers a functional and customisable interface with state-of-the-art assistance systems. Large windows provide a better view. The spacious cab also offers plenty of storage space and an ergonomic, comfortable driver’s seat.
