Sustainable business

Sustainability is not a buzzword

Sustainability is deeply embedded in our corporate philosophy and reflects our long-term commitment to responsible business practices. As an independent family-owned company, we make agile decisions with a long-term perspective, built on stability, trust, and reliability. Innovation drives our progress, ensuring quality remains central to everything we do. For us, economic success and responsibility go hand in hand.

Business decisions  and beyond

Every business decision aligns with economic, environmental, and social responsibility. The Liebherr Group’s Code of Conduct sets clear ethical standards, ensuring integrity across all operations and partnerships. We prioritise economic stability while advancing sustainable practices. Our holistic approach spans the entire product lifecycle, focusing on energy efficiency, resource management, and waste reduction. Beyond business, we support the communities we operate in, contributing to local economies and long-term regional development.

A culture of integrity

Our commitment to compliance. Adhering to laws and internal regulations is of the highest priority for us. To uphold this commitment, it is essential to identify potential misconduct at an early stage and take immediate and appropriate action. By ensuring compliance and accountability, we reinforce our corporate values of integrity, fairness, and responsibility.

Whistleblowing and reporting mechanisms

Liebherr Group has a confidential whistleblowing system that allows employees and third parties to report any breaches of human rights, legal regulations, or internal policies — including the Codes of Conduct for employees and suppliers. This ensures transparency and accountability across all areas of our business.

Non-negotiable

We are committed to protecting and promoting human rights across all business operations and supply chains, ensuring fair and safe working conditions. We align with the UN Global Compact principles and Sustainable Development Goals while complying with national and international regulations.

We firmly believe that long-term success is only possible when economic activities respect both people and the environment. Therefore, we are dedicated to upholding human rights and preventing violations in all areas of our business.

We assess human rights risks across operations and supply chains, following Liebherr’s Corporate Responsibility Policy, Code of Conduct, and Supplier Code of Conduct. Employees and partners must comply with laws and human rights conventions, with violations addressed accordingly.

The management is responsible for ensuring the implementation and enforcement of human rights due diligence. Our procurement teams play a key role in maintaining these standards throughout our supply chain. We continuously review and refine our objectives and measures to adapt to evolving challenges, ensuring an ethical and sustainable supply chain for the future.

Responsible sourcing and supplier standards

We source 57 % of materials from suppliers in the same countries as its European production sites, ensuring regional efficiency. Regular supplier audits assess delivery capability and quality compliance, with risk-based evaluations influencing frequency. Non-compliance triggers an escalation process, with severe breaches like forced or child labour leading to immediate contract termination. Other violations require corrective action plans, reinforcing transparency and accountability in supplier partnerships.

Optimised logistics for efficient transport

We optimise cargo space to improve transport efficiency and cut emissions. Currently, 95 % of lorries from central warehouses are fully loaded, reducing costs and environmental impact. Strategic logistics solutions further enhance supply chain efficiency while actively lowering our carbon footprint, including:

Factory-based and regional warehouses ensure efficient distribution in core markets.

Carefully planned transport routes ensure vehicles are fully loaded.

Continuous improvements prevent empty trips and enhance transport efficiency.

Materials are moved efficiently between sites, with reusable packaging and pallets loaded for return trips.

A combination of road, rail, and sea transport is used, with rail preferred whenever possible.
