Liebherr’s next-generation tooth system for plate lip applications
Available for hydraulic excavators from 100 to 400 tonnes, the Z G3 tooth system for plate lip applications is engineered to help reduce total operational costs.
Developed through extensive research, onsite feedback and customer insights, each feature has been refined to deliver increased wear life, simplified maintenance and reliable, consistent performance across a wide range of mining environments.
Key design features across the Z G3 plate lip system
Improved tooth design
The improved tooth design supports consistent penetration, longer wear life and simplified installation.
Key features include:
- Optimised wear material ratio for longer life
- Pre-installed metal retainer for faster installation and reduced inventory requirements
- Self-sharpening design that maintains reliable penetration
- Poka-yoke tooth pin hole that prevents incorrect pin installation

Optimised wear cap design
The improved wear cap is designed to protect critical areas and support informed replacement decisions.
Key features include:
- Built-in wear indicator to better inform maintenance processes
- Convenient slip-on design that fits directly over the adapter without a separate locking system
- Weld protection against lower and lateral wear of the adapter
- Flush fit integration design which directs material flow straight into the bucket, preventing any debris buildup between components
Enhanced adapter design
The adapter design supports improved stability, longer service life and easier maintenance.
Key features include:
- Symmetrical design distributes loads evenly across the system, improving stability and overall balance
- Spherical nose design enables slight tooth movement during digging, helping to clear fine material between components and making maintenance easier
- Large contact surface minimises plastic deformation, maintaining structural integrity while reducing maintenance frequency

Efficient and safe locking system
The locking system is designed to simplify maintenance and support safer, more efficient component handling.
Key features include:
- Single locking system that simplifies tooth change-outs
- Hammerless locking system for safer and faster maintenance
- Audible confirmation that the tooth is correctly fitted, eliminating uncertainty during installation
- Two-step assembly and disassembly support faster maintenance
