With the LTM 1150-5.4, KönningKrane GmbH & Co. KG is adding its third Liebherr mobile crane to its fleet, opting for a high-performance all-rounder. The Westphalian crane hire company is positioning itself to meet the growing demands of the infrastructure and energy sectors with its new 5-axle crane.
KönningKrane GmbH & Co. KG has taken delivery of a new Liebherr LTM 1150-5.4 mobile crane. With this 150-tonne crane, the Stadtlohn-based company is filling the gap in its own fleet between the 100- and 180-tonne classes, whilst also responding to the increasing demands of energy and infrastructure projects. “With this new crane, we are expanding our fleet in a sensible way and creating additional flexibility for our customers,” explains Managing Director Johannes Bendfeld.
The crane’s innovative technologies were a key factor in the decision to invest. These include, amongst others, VarioBase®, AutoBallast and the new LICCON3 control system. In addition, the 66-metre-long telescopic boom offers a high degree of flexibility in day-to-day operations. Another advantage is that, with a total weight of 60 tonnes and an axle load of 12 tonnes, the crane can carry 9 tonnes of ballast.
As well as its modern design, the new addition to the Könning fleet boasts a range of convenience features, such as the multifunction steering wheel and the cool box integrated into the cab. Furthermore, the 5-axle vehicle impresses with a host of innovative safety features, such as intelligent driver assistance systems including BSIS (Blind Spot and Turning Assistant) and MOIS (Collision Information System), a comprehensive LED lighting package, and a front-view and reversing camera.
The LTM 1150-5.4 is designed for a wide range of lifting tasks. “With this new 150-tonne crane, we are expanding our operational capabilities beyond our day-to-day business, particularly in infrastructure and concrete construction,” explains Bendfeld. The mobile crane completed its first job immediately after delivery, loading a 37.5-tonne machine in confined spaces. Thanks to its high performance, flexibility and modern technology, the new 5-axle crane will be used on numerous infrastructure projects in future and will effectively complement the KönningKrane fleet.
Another decisive factor in the purchase decision was Liebherr’s high standard of service. “The after-sales service works exactly as you’d hope – quickly, reliably and with a focus on solutions,” emphasises Managing Director Verena Könning. The proximity to the Liebherr branch in Oberhausen also offers the crane hire company from the Münsterland region additional peace of mind regarding maintenance and the supply of spare parts.
The new 5-axle crane joins a fleet that currently comprises around 20 units, including a Liebherr LTM 1160-5.2 and an LTC 1050-3.1, which KönningKrane has put into service over the past two years. With the aim of continuously expanding its fleet, the second generation of management is focusing on state-of-the-art technology: “We make a conscious effort to invest in innovative solutions – this makes our work more efficient and also more attractive for our staff,” says Verena Könning. In addition to traditional crane hire, KönningKrane’s range of services also includes concrete pumps and transport solutions.
