IT Systems Administrator - Level 2Tupelo, MS
The primary focus of this position is to provide on premises and cloud server management, virtualization, storage administration, office communications support and data center management, responding to requests such as service desk tickets, telephone, email and in-person service within the Liebherr Groups and its Tupelo, MS location as well as other state side locations in accordance with Liebherr International IT security standards. This includes troubleshooting hardware and software related issues.
Responsibilities
- Level I:
- Gathers data pertaining to customer needs, and use the information to identify, predict, interpret, and evaluate system and network requirements.
- Maintains logs related to system performance, as well as maintenance and repair records
- Conducts new physical, virtual, and cloud machine builds, coordinates operating system updates (Windows and Linux).
- Works with product vendors to resolve hardware issues, and to improve the use and configuration of vendor products and technologies (such as replication and management software, RAID Configurations and multi-pathing).
- Ensures accurate backups of devices and recovery from component failures (Veeam). Collaborates with network administrator to ensure fault tolerant connectivity (HA) to all critical systems.
- Creates and keeps documentation updated related to new and existing IT infrastructure.
- Recommends changes to improve systems configurations. Determines hardware or software requirements related to such changes.
- Diagnoses, troubleshoots, resolves hardware, software and system problems, and replaces defective components as necessary.
- Handles support requests via service desk tickets, phone and email or in person.
- Stays informed of current technology, trends and best practices related to networking and computer systems. Analyzes and recommends changes and upgrades to staff and IT management.
- Participates in cross-functional projects as scheduled.
- Protects organization's value by keeping information confidential.
- Practices 5S methodology to keep responsible areas organized and maintained at all times.
- Level II:
- All duties of Level I
- Manages maintenance renewals and service contracts with hardware suppliers (Vertiv, HP, Dell, NetApp, etc.).
- Meets financial requirements by submitting information for budgets; monitoring expenses.
- Implements and maintains MS-SQL always-on cluster and assists in database administration functions (DBA).
- Maintains Nutanix, VMware and Hyper-V clusters, including roll-out and configuration of guest operating systems while ensuring high availability.
- Manages maintenance renewals and service contracts with hardware suppliers (Vertiv, HP, Dell, NetApp, etc.).
- Maintains an inventory of parts for emergency repairs.
- Coordinates with vendors and with company personnel to facilitate equipment purchases.
- Level III:
- All duties of Level II
- Lead the design and deployment of advanced datacenter solutions, collaborating with cross-functional teams and external vendors to incorporate cutting-edge technologies (Vertiv, Samsung, Siemens, Geist) and drive continuous innovation.
- Architect, operate, and optimize enterprise-grade storage and datacenter infrastructure, ensuring seamless integration, scalability, and resilience across virtualized and cloud platforms (VMware, Hyper-V, Nutanix, and hybrid cloud environments).
- Engineer, configure, and maintain complex virtual machine and cloud server ecosystems, orchestrating automated provisioning, lifecycle management, and robust disaster recovery strategies.
- Oversee virtualization clusters, ensuring optimal performance, security, and high availability through proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and rapid incident response.
- Direct the administration of enterprise storage solutions (NetApp, Object First, NAS/Windows storage), implementing advanced capacity analysis, performance optimization, and comprehensive backup/recovery protocols (Veeam, replication technologies).
- Proactively develop and maintain rigorous documentation standards for all IT infrastructure, leveraging enterprise tools (MS-Word, MS-Excel, MS-Visio, Atlassian Confluence, Draw.io) to ensure transparency, auditability, and regulatory compliance.
- Serve as a technical mentor, resolving escalated support requests and fostering a culture of excellence in service delivery through advanced troubleshooting and knowledge sharing.
- Lead the evaluation and integration of emerging technologies, processes, and methodologies, driving organizational agility and sustained competitive advantage.
- Architect and govern mission‑critical database platforms (on‑prem, cloud, and hybrid) to deliver high availability, performance, and resilience for enterprise applications.
Competencies
- Level I: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline with a minimum of 0 years of related systems administration experience, or an Associates degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline with a minimum of 2 years of related systems administration experience, or a minimum of 4 years of related systems administration experience in lieu of a degree. A current Security+, Server+, Microsoft Server, or equivalent certification may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Level II: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline with a minimum of 4 years of related systems administration experience, or an Associates degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline with a minimum of 6 years of related systems administration experience, or a minimum of 8 years of related systems administration experience in lieu of a degree. A current Security+, Server+, Microsoft Server, or equivalent certification may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Level III: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline with a minimum of 8 years of related systems administration experience, or an Associate degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Systems or related discipline with a minimum of 10 years of related systems administration experience, or a minimum of 12 years of related systems administration experience in lieu of a degree. A current Security+, Server+, Microsoft Server, or equivalent certification may be considered in lieu of degree.
- Travel domestically and internationally occasionally.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a valid driver license and passport.
- Available of on-call work as needed.
