On June 29, 2026, Liebherr-Components Colmar SAS held a groundbreaking ceremony, marking the launch of a new phase in the expansion of its production site in Colmar. This strategic project supports the growth of Liebherr’s activities in the field of combustion engines, particularly for power generation applications, in response to the strong momentum of the global data centre market.
Laying the foundation stone to extend production grounds
With the groundbreaking ceremony, Liebherr-Components Colmar marks the next step in the extension of its site, aiming to nearly double its production capacity by 2030.
This investment programme of over €90 million notably includes the creation of a 11,600 m² ground for production and logistics, an increase in assembly capacity from 13 to 18 stations, as well as the creation of a 7,800 m² logistics centre. It also includes the strengthening of testing capabilities through the installation of two new high-power test benches, bringing their total number to six.
Strengthening Liebherr’s position in power generation
Founded in 2011, Liebherr-Components Colmar SAS specialises in the development, assembly and testing of high-power combustion engines. The site plays a key role within the Group’s engine activities, particularly for applications requiring high levels of performance, reliability and integration capability.
This extension will support the industrialisation and production of new-generation engines, meeting the growing demand for high-power generator sets for large-scale data centres.
A long-term commitment to the Colmar region
Through this project, Liebherr reaffirms its long-term commitment to the Colmar region and strengthens its local industrial footprint. This development addresses current and future market needs, while laying the foundations for sustainable growth in the power generation sector.
This development will be accompanied by the creation of more than 200 jobs within the coming years. The recruitment procedure has already begun and will continue progressively in line with the ramp-up of the new facilities.
