Liebherr-Hausgeraete has been awarded the Platinum medal by EcoVadis. With a score of 89 out of 100, the company has achieved the highest rating from the internationally renowned sustainability rating agency and is in the top one percent of companies assessed by EcoVadis worldwide. Compared with the previous year, Liebherr-Hausgeraete improved its overall rating by 14 points, achieving the best result in its rating history to date.

EcoVadis assessed Liebherr-Hausgeraete on Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics and Sustainable Procurement. It improved its score across all areas, achieving 94 out of 100 points for Environment, 91 points for Labour and Human Rights, 81 points for Ethics, and 86 points for Sustainable Procurement. This assessment covers the activities of the entire fridges and freezers product segment, including its five production sites.
Liebherr has made significant progress in Environment
The fridges and freezers manufacturer achieved its highest individual score in Environment. Among other things, existing environmental management systems, implementation of relevant measures within the company, and reporting on relevant sustainability indicators were commended. The management systems are certified to ISO 14001 and ISO 50001. In addition, factors such as resource conservation, energy efficiency, and the circular economy were taken into account in the assessment.
These included process optimisations to reduce material usage, reuse of materials, and measures to extend product life. The provision of spare parts, diagnostic tools, and range of services to support repairs was also noted. Another component of the results is Liebherr’s sustainability reporting at Group level. EcoVadis looked at the disclosure of relevant key performance indicators and their external verification.
High score for responsibility towards employees
In Labour and Human Rights, Liebherr-Hausgeraete scored 91 points. Policies and measures aimed at protecting employees, promoting equality of opportunity and diversity, and supporting professional development were factors in the assessment.
This included, for instance skills development programmes, individual development and career plans, flexible working arrangements, family-friendly initiatives, and measures relating to health and safety at work. Regulations designed to prevent discrimination and harassment, as well as existing complaints procedures, were also included in the assessment.
Improvements in Ethics and Sustainable Procurement
In the Ethics category, Liebherr-Hausgeraete was awarded 81 points. Among other things, policies and measures relating to corruption prevention, data protection, and information security contributed to this outcome. These include risk assessments, training, monitoring mechanisms, and whistleblowing schemes.
The company scored 86 points in Sustainable Procurement. As part of this, the analysis of potential sustainability risks in the supply chain, supplier assessments and on-site audits, and the incorporation of social and environmental requirements into supplier contracts, were evaluated. A binding code of conduct for suppliers provided a further basis for this.
Award as an incentive for further development
Receiving the EcoVadis Platinum medal for the first time ever shows how significant improvement has been made by Liebherr Hausgeraete appliance within the EcoVadis assessment framework. With a 14-point increase on the previous year and improvements across all four assessment categories, the fridges and freezers manufacturer has achieved its best result to date.
Liebherr-Hausgeraete sees sustainability as an ongoing process and has allows EcoVadis to assess its performance regularly. This ranking highlights the progress made and, at the same time, helps the manufacturer to systematically identify areas for improvement and to target areas to develop.
