Hannovermesse 2006: Energiesparende Liebherr-Kühlgeräte ausgezeichnet
In the European ProCool Competition for energy saving and environmentally friendly commercial-use refrigerators and freezers Liebherr won three of the five awards. They were presented on 24 April 2006 at the International Technology Fair in Hanover.

Modern commercial-use refrigerators and freezers can achieve a high electricity saving and can be run completely without any climate-damaging refrigerants and insulating ma¬terials. This was shown by the ProCool Competition, promoted by the European Union, in which eight leading manufacturers entered innovative models for use in the retail trade and catering.

In the competition Liebherr presented three newly-developed appliances. Each of them won an award from among the five presented in total. The FKv 3692-20 drinks refrigerator with circulating air and the shop freezer chests GTE 2492 and GTE 5092 each received a ProCool-Award.

The jury praised in particular the low energy consumption of the Liebherr commercial-use appliances. It is 50-60 % below the European market average and therefore sets new standards for energy saving. The significant reduction in noise emissions was specially mentioned as a further positive feature. With this outstanding result in the comparison of manufacturers Liebherr once again underlines its dynamic innovative capability and competence in the production of refrigerators and freezers.

The international ProCool project aims to inject impetus into higher energy efficiency and cost savings in plug-in refrigerators and freezers for commercial use. The Austrian Energy Agency, the German Energy Agency, the Wuppertal Institute and the Association for Consumer Information are members of the project consortium. The project is supported by the European Union in the LIFE Programme.
