New production plant for aviation equipment is opened in Brazil

On 30 March 2006, a new plant for the production of precision parts for aircraft actuation and air-conditioning systems was officially opened in Guaratinguetá in Brazil. It has a useable floor space of over 7,000 m², and is situated adjacent to the Liebherr Brasil Ltda. complex. Liebherr Brasil Ltda has been the active sales and production company for Liebherr construction machinery since 1974. The new plant is operated by Liebherr-Aerospace Brasil Indústria e Comércio de Equipamentos Aeronáuticos Ltda.

Liebherr took the decision to construct the additional plant at the Guaratinguetá site as part of an overall concept concerned with expanding its strategic network in the aerospace and transportation technology sector. Initially, casings and valve blocks for hydraulic actuation systems as well as valve housings for air-conditioning systems will be produced in Guaratinguetá. Cylinder casings and piston rods will be added at a later date.

The Liebherr Group now produces aviation equipment at five locations. In addition to Guaratinguetá, these are the large production plants in Lindenberg with operations in Friedrichshafen (both in Germany), and in Toulouse with operations in Campsas (both in France). Liebherr has a 40 % share in Embraer-Liebherr Equipamentos do Brasil in São José dos Campos (Brazil). Liebherr-Aerospace manages service and sales support points in Saline (USA), Montreal (Canada), Shanghai (People’s Republic of China) and Singapore.
