First crane deliveries from the new production site in Rostock
The first cranes produced in Liebherr-MCCtec Rostock GmbH were shipped in September 2005 to Venezuela directly from Rostock port. The slewing cranes type TCC CBS 3100-60 mounted on travelling gantries shall be used as shipyard cranes at the Dianca Shipyard in Puerto Cabello.
The three cranes have a maximum lifting capacity of 60 t at an outreach of 18 m each. Of particular interest in this case is the gantry design. In order to ensure that the cranes can manoeuvre between two docks the gantries have been designed to enable them to travel round curves. This also allows for heavy loads of up to 120 t to be carried out by two cranes in a tandem lift.
This relatively new concept of shipyard and cargo cranes in ports is ideal for harbours and dockyards with limited room for manoeuvre or where low ground pressures are essential.
