At the beginning of 2009, Möbius Bau-Aktiengesellschaft commissioned their second P 995 Litronic pontoon excavator. This large machine has an operating weight of around 380 tons. It is currently performing excavation work with great success in the JadeWeserPort fairway in Wilhelmshaven.
Last year, two Liebherr P 984 C Litronic pontoon excavators were installed on the stone dumping vessel “Simon Stevin”, belonging to the Belgian shipping company Jan de Nul N.V.
In mid-April 2010, Liebherr-France SAS, Colmar, is due to deliver six more of these machines, which have been specially modified to the highly-specialised requirements of dredging. Four of these pontoon excavators with operating weights of up to 220 tons will be installed in fallpipe vessels. Two further machines with operating weights of 220 and 270 tons will go into service on traditional stilt-mounted pontoons.
A cutting-edge innovation is the modified electronic drive system which will be used for the first time in maritime applications. This meets the stricter requirements regarding permissible noise emissions, increases overall efficiency and keeps operating costs to a minimum.
