During this year's refrigerator comparison conducted by Stiftung Warentest, both the fitted-kitchen refrigerator IKP 1760 as well as the fitted-kitchen refrigerator IKP 1554 with its 4-* freezer compartment received the quality certificate "Excellent". In total, 19 fitted-kitchen refrigerators were tested. 12 of these were not equipped with a 4-* freezer, 7 of them featured a 4-* freezer compartment. The results were published in issue 11/2008 of the magazine test.
The assessment criteria examined during the test covered the cooling output including maintenance of storage temperature and cooling period, freezer output of the 4-* freezer compartment including maintenance of storage temperature and warm-up period in the event of malfunction, power consumption under normal operating conditions as well as the operation of the individual appliance including installation and connection of the appliance, the operating instructions, temperature adjustment, door handling, design of the interior, interior lighting, defrosting and cleaning.
Following the test, Stiftung Warentest's verdict was "double-plus is a winner". Energy costs continue to become an ever more significant factor for households. The energy consumption of fridges and freezers, which guarantee the freshness of valuable foodstuffs 24/7, is thus a major criterion when considering a purchase.
The two Liebherr fitted-kitchen refrigerators, which are designed to be integrated into existing fitted kitchens and which both comply with the energy efficiency classification A++, are noteworthy in that they are both luxurious and energy-saving. The energy consumed by appliances such as the IKP 1760 or the IKP 1554 has been reduced by over 40% when compared with ten-year-old predecessor models. Replacing an old unit with a new one thus not only cuts down electricity consumption but also actively contributes to a reduction of CO2 emissions. The clearly structured controls provide for highly convenient set-up and the MagicEye feature guarantees that the selected temperature is precisely maintained. A single glance at the digital display provides accurate information on the exact temperature in the fridge. The SuperCool function ensures rapid cooling of the fridge's interior. The LED lighting in the refrigerator compartment ensures a new level of illumination in the entire interior. The door closes softly and securely thanks to the SoftSystem dampers.
The outstanding energy-saving potential and luxury features ensured that both appliances came out on top in the test.
