In the latest comparison of refrigerators carried out by Stiftung Warentest, the Liebherr KTP 1750 table-height refrigerator was rated "very good" (1.2) and thus topped the list of all the 16 appliances tested. The results were published in the November 2007 issue of 'test' magazine.

The testers compared table-height refrigerators with and without 4-star freezer compartments. The assessment criteria were power consumption under standard conditions, cooling performance, maintaining the set storage temperature and cooling duration, the freezing performance of the 4-star freezer compartment, handling of the appliances in terms of temperature adjustment, door operation, interior layout and lighting, as well as cleaning, thawing and and setting up, and finally the instruction manual.

"Cheap isn't cool" was the concusion drawn by Stiftung Warentest after the test. Significant differences in quality between the different manufacturers' appliances led to major differences, particularly in long-term running costs. This means it is essential to take energy efficiency into account when choosing a refrigerator, rather than simply comparing the selling price. Low electricity costs are becoming increasingly important given the current developments in energy prices.

What makes the Liebherr KTP 1750 table-height refrigerator unique is its new electronic system, which guarantees that the selected temperature is maintained. The digital indicator in the MagicEye tells you the exact temperature in the refrigerator compartment at a glance. The SuperCool function quickly reduces the temperature inside. The highly efficient refrigerating system has facilitated a further significant reduction in energy consumption.

Another Liebherr refrigerator also came near the top of the test. The KTP 1554 refrigerator with 4-star freezer compartment was rated "good" (1.7). With a high-quality refrigerating system and very good insulation, the KTP 1554 is as energy-efficient as it is functional. The appliance has wheels and adjustable feet for so that it can be easily positioned wherever required. The testers also praised as exemplary the temperature adjustment and digital temperature indicator of the KTP 1554.
