Bauma 2007: new 90-tonne industrial excavator
As part of a special display, a total of four current models from the broad range of Liebherr specialist excavators designed for material handling are to be presented at Bauma 2007. The largest of the exhibits is the new 90-tonne A 954 C HD Litronic ‘High Rise’. This industrial excavator is powered by a robust, turbo-charged, inter-cooled six-cylinder Liebherr diesel engine which complies with Stage III / Tier III guidelines. This engine has a displacement of 10.5 l and produces its output of 240 kW / 326 hp at just 1,800 rpm.

A central objective of the A 954 C HD Litronic ‘High Rise’ development concept was to design a machine specifically suited to material handling at ports. To equip it for this task, a 2-m tower extension was fitted between the undercarriage and the superstructure. The machine can thus achieve heights of up to 25 m and also a maximum reach of 25 m. Especially wide outriggers have been fitted to ensure the excavator is steady on the ground even at extreme radii.

The A 954 C HD Litronic ‘High Rise’ going on display in Munich has a 12.5-m offset industrial gooseneck boom and an offset industrial stick measuring 10 m. The exhibit is to be configured in such a way as to make it suitable for a great variety of operations, including handling scrap and timber, bulk and loose goods, and recyclables.
