Bauma 2007: New ultra haul truck
Click: View enlarged picture
Liebherr is launching at Bauma 2007 its new mining truck TI 274. With a payload capacity of 290 metric tonnes (320 short tons), and powered to handle demanding haul profiles, the TI 274 is the result of Liebherr design engineers concentrating on innovative ways to reduce the empty vehicle weight of the truck, while maximizing productivity.

The TI 274 has two side by side independent rear axles with all four wheels independently driven by individual motors. Each of the four rear tires thus can rotate at independent speeds providing better traction when operating in adverse weather conditions and reduced tire scrubbing during cornering. Overloading of an individual tire is also reduced as the independent rear axles can oscillate approximately four degrees each way from the centerline allowing each tire to maintain equal ground pressure on uneven terrain. This not only contributes to reduce wear and tear of tires but also allows to use smaller sized tires without reducing the payload capacity.

To ensure maximum productivity, the Liebherr Drive system has been combined with a 2.237 kW / 3.000 hp diesel engine utilizing the latest in Tier 2 engine technology which enables the TI 274 to reach a maximum speed of 64 km/h.
