The big Frankfurt Airport project as an example for equipment rental potential
For the renovation of the northern runway at Frankfurt Airport Liebherr-Mietpartner is supporting the construction company Kirchhoff-Heine. The task is to ensure the one hundred percent availability of a fleet of hydraulic excavators with exceptionally high performance for a period of 300 days.
The notable aspect of this project is that a complete runway has to be renewed without delaying and certainly without interrupting the airlines’ timetables. The work therefore has to be carried out during the nightly shut-down periods from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Every night a section of the runway 920 square metres in area is broken up, cleared away and re-asphalted. By the time the first aircraft is due to land or take off the next morning, the asphalt has to be capable of bearing the full specified loads. The work has been planned to take place over a 300-day period and will be completed according to schedule next spring.
