Liebherr tower cranes involved in rebuilding Hotel Moscow in Russia’s capital

Six Liebherr tower cranes in the EC-H series are currently being used to rebuild the renowned Hotel Moscow in the capital of Russia.

The hotel was built between 1932 and 1935 in the heart of Moscow and is one of the city’s architectural monuments. It enjoys a prominent position in close proximity to the State Duma of the Russian Federation and Red Square. For reasons of preservation, the original façade will be retained when the hotel is rebuilt.

Five new Liebherr tower cranes of type 112 EC-H and one 140 EC-H 6 second-hand crane with working radii of between 40.0 m and 50.0 m are currently in operation on the construction site. Two cranes with a hook height of 79.4 m are being used in conjunction with 256 HC and 120 HC tower systems. The other cranes have hook heights of 83.3 m, 86.3 m and 96.3 m. All Liebherr tower cranes are anchored to the building exterior.

The new complex will comprise three blocks. The first will incorporate the hotel and the second a business centre with conference halls. The third block will contain apartments for long-term residents. An underground car park with 700 parking spaces will be built beneath the hotel. The new hotel building is scheduled for completion this year, and it is intended that the interior will be completed during 2007.
